How to write a Analysis Template

The objective of an analysis is to conduct an unbiased appraisal and assess and scrutinize the pros and cons involved in a process. This is done to check the efficacy of a process and thereby seek ways to improve them. Depending on the object of examination, an analysis can be of various types like business analysis, market analysis, industrial analysis, stock analysis, competitive analysis, price analysis, risk analysis, data analysis, so on and so forth.

In order to keep the functionality and relevance of a process in check, it must be subjected to a periodical analysis. Analysis can therefore be weekly, monthly or yearly as per the mode of functionality of the process. However, since analysis is often required to be conducted in a regular basis, it becomes extremely tedious for an analyst to format his findings in the required layout afresh every time an analysis is carried out.

This is where the concept of analysis templates comes into play. An analysis template is basically a pre-designed ready-to-use layout that is modeled on the basic accepted structure of an analysis. They are built to be user-friendly and documented with the aim of simplifying the job of an analyst by containing specific lineation wherein his findings may be delineated and submitted.

Since an analysis aims to provide a brief analytical overview of a process, pin point its loopholes and thereby chart a road-map of practical solutions to resolve the problems, it is highly important for an analysis template to be specific to its purpose. Following are a few points that may be considered while drafting an analysis template:

  • The analysis template should be documented in a way that it is capable to interpret the given situation and closely assess its tangible and intangible facets.
  • The lineation provided on the templates must be to the point and purpose specific.
  • The language used in the template must be simple and lucid in order to ensure its readability and efficacy.
  • In case of quantitative analysis, the template must bear provision for incorporating statistical perspective in order to support the available numeric data.
