How to Write a Cover Letter for a Job Template
A résumé is not the only important tool for job search, but your cover letter proves to be equally essential in creating a good impression for an employer. You should put in some effort in making a great cover letter, as it increases your chances of success. Here are the instructions on how to write a cover letter for a job template.
When you find an advertisement of a job or job posting in any job portals, you should read their requirements and job description carefully. Make sure that you qualify for the specified position, before applying.
- The letterhead paper and style which you use for writing your cover letter should be matched to that of your CV. This can establish a good impression.
- Do not include salutation part, if you are not aware of the person’s name, who will review your resume. However, it is the best practice to address the cover letter to a particular person. You can contact the company and try to find out the name and title of the person.
- You should write the letter in such a way, that it instantly succeeds in catching the attention of the reader. Make it interesting, right from the beginning, to set yourself apart from the other applicants.
- In the first paragraph, mention how you found about that job opportunity and the reason of your interest in it.
- Specify your most significant achievements and qualification. You must take care, that you do not quote what is exactly in the resume.
- State what you can contribute for the organization, rather than saying how the job can benefit your career.
- In the last paragraph, gently remind the reader that your resume will contain the details of your skills, experience and other qualities. You can request for a personal interview and mention your availability timings.
- Close the cover letter by saying that you expect to hear from the organization, and state your enthusiasm about the opportunity.
- Double-check to make sure that your letter is free of spelling and grammar mistakes and take a printout using a good laser printer or an ink-jet printer.
